I haven’t posted for 9 days but I have been busy working on the 100 Day Challenge all the same. In any plan, it is helpful to stop and evaluate progress compared with an original vision. My original vision was to reduce my anxiety about feeling disconnected from real life. I stated in the beginning that I knew that talking about my concerns about the Internet, on the Internet, was paradoxical. I had hoped, correctly as it turns out, that spending time blogging about my use of the Internet would help me wean myself from the activities that were of concern. Here’s how I have changed things up. Continue reading “Strategy: Day 53”
Gray is the last color in my series about color. While the Color in Series show ends with black, I have already focused on black. Like pink, grey is a shade of a color that has a life of its own. Silver, the mirror we use to see ourselves, coming and going.
Pink was not part of my childhood. Through accident or design, I played with handmade dolls that wore clothes that matched mine. I wasn’t dressed in pink and I didn’t play with pink toys. For me, pink is not a childish color, it is a color of power.
Orange is a modern color. It is a popular choice for people signaling innovation and provides the best contrast with the old, trustworthy blue. I enjoy orange precisely because it plays so nicely with blue.
Brown is such a modest color. But, like all modest things, it has hidden complexity. Did you know that the most difficult color matches are shades of brown? Product lifecycle managers hate when Khaki is trending! Brown is the true color of forest and I love forest over anything else.
I promised my favorite picture from the Museum of Art, Architecture and Design in Oslo. Click through to see it! Blue, blue, blue!
While green may be the color of jealousy, yellow is the color of greed. Yes, jaundice may occur to the innocent but in adults, it is seen as evidence of greedy excess. Midas may live in a golden world, but eventually greed catches up with him. Yellow is also, for odd reasons, the color of the media.
The next color in the series is Red. A strong, traditional color that has been available for fashion for millennia, it is easily obtained as pigments and natural dyes and has not been radically improved by the chemical age. The color of caution, risk and passion, red is a popular accent color.

Green is not my favorite color to wear, but it is my childhood favorite color and it is the color of love.
I have been paying close attention to color since I made my switch to the black capsule wardrobe. How fun then, to watch a Spanish TV series about colors.
