The final Quaker Testimony in the acronym SPICES is Stewardship. When I first hear this word, of course, I think of money. The proper use of the money intrusted to us as stewards of resources is of course an important aspect of this word. But what about time…or talents…?
Community: Day 24
Sunday is the perfect day to think about what I am willing to do to be part of a community. We use this word, “community” to describe the global tribe comprised of Sexual Minorities. I imagine that many people in the Sexual Majority use it to describe the group of people who live in their town, but I know we all use it to describe our membership in a tribe.
Integrity: Day 23
The life I live with others should reflect what I believe, this is Integrity. A frustration with the lack of honesty, of reality, in the world around me can be an invitation to deepen my alignment between what I believe and how I live.
Peace: Day 22
I am attending the 168th Episcopal Diocese of Texas Council meeting in Galveston today. I haven’t attended a big church meeting like this before, but I have been to plenty of conferences, so I know what to expect. However, the word for today is Peace.
Simplicity: Day 21
As a gift from Evernote this New Year, I received a free Audible copy of Marie Kondo’s book “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing“. This is a bit ironic because several of my Evernote files include things like “declutter my Evernote”.
